CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Lamaze Childbirth Education Package – Six-Week or Saturday Option

Our Lamaze program will prepare you and your labor coach for the big day. Our childbirth educator will discuss the philosophy and fundamentals of birth, relaxation, breathing techniques, comfort measures, positions for labor, medications, anesthesia, pushing, delivery, medical interventions, Cesarean section, mock labor, postpartum "baby blues," and other topics. During Lamaze class, you will also cover baby care basics and tour the Birthing Center.
Lamaze classes are limited to between eight and ten couples and also include a breastfeeding class at no extra charge.
All Holy Family Hospital Lamaze childbirth educators are nationally certified by either Lamaze International (ICCE) or the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA).
Seven-Week Childbirth Education Package

Includes five 2-hour Lamaze classes and a Breastfeeding class
Lamaze classes meet Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Breastfeeding class meets on Wednesday evening for one 2-hour session.
Saturday Lamaze Childbirth Education Package

Includes a Lamaze class and a Breastfeeding class
Lamaze class meets Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. a one 8-hour session. Breastfeeding class meets on a Wednesday evening for one 2-hour session.
Breastfeeding

Our Breastfeeding class is a single two-hour session that meets on a Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm in the Holy Family Hospital Birthing Center Conference Room on the third floor. This class provides instruction and support in breastfeeding. Geared towards mothers who want to breastfeed and to those undecided, the class covers principles of breastfeeding, its benefits, weaning and the transition back to work.
American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends

This class meets from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Specific location provided upon registration. To insure the best possible learning environment, please do not bring children to the class.
Sibling Preparation Class
To sign up, simply download the printable registration form: 2023/24 classes
This class prepares children for the new addition to the family and describes their upcoming role as a big brother or a big sister. The children are given a tour, shown a video and have the opportunity to try their hands at diapering and feeding their “favorite baby”. This program is offered every other month to children three years of age and older. A parent is required to accompany the child.
Refresher Class

For moms who have already experienced motherhood, this class offers a refresher on what to expect and how to prepare.
