Holy Family Hospital Earns Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hip and Knee Replacement

Holy Family Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for hip and knee replacement surgery for the 7th consecutive year.

The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

To earn this certification, Holy Family Hospital underwent a rigorous review during August of 2015. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with orthopedic disease- specific requirements, clinical practice guidelines, and performance measures.

"Holy Family Hospital is proud to receive this certification from The Joint Commission for the 7th consecutive year,” said Holy Family Hospital President Joseph Roach. “It validates the high quality care that our team of dedicated orthopedic surgeons and clinicians have provided for many years. It’s an honor to have our orthopedic program recognized by The Joint Commission, which is considered the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation.”

Holy Family Hospital Orthopedic Disease Program has consistently earned The Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval® since 2009 and is the only orthopedic center in the Merrimack Valley to receive the award.

Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:
• Compliance with consensus-based national standards;
• Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and
• An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
"Holy Family Hospital has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients with orthopedic disease,” said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director of certification programs for The Joint Commission. “We commend Holy Family Hospital for becoming a leader in orthopedic disease care, potentially providing a higher standard of service for orthopedic patients in the communities it serves.”

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission seeks to continuously improve health care for the public by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. The Joint Commission accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, nonprofit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
